Ultrasound Imaging is also referred to as Ultrasound Scanning/Sonography.
It mainly uses high-frequency sound waves to obtain images of the inside body parts/organs.
Test Details:
- Ultrasound Imaging uses sound waves to obtain images of the inner body.
- The technologist applies gel on the skin(test area) and then places a transducer in the same area.
- Gel enables the to and fro movement of the sound waves between the test area and the transducer, and the real-time image will be displayed on the screen.
- Ultrasound imaging helps physicians to see and evaluate clots, narrow vessels, tumors, vascular malformations, pain, swelling, and infection.
- Ultrasound Imaging helps in testing all the internal body parts like heart and blood vessels, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, etc. Guided biopsy and assessing/diagnosing heart conditions are also possible using Ultrasound Imaging.
- Ultrasound Imaging is non-invasive and extremely safe.
